Re: New symptom out of the blue

Thanks for the info, lyndacarol. It hadn't occurred to me that they might not accept test results from somewhere else. My neurosurgeon is in Winston-Salem and they'd be likely to consider "outside results" less reliable. My local doctor's office still hasn't sent the order to the hospital...

Re: New symptom out of the blue

I just thought of another question that someone might be able to answer for me. I'm currently taking 1800 mg of gabapentin daily for my neuralgias. Would this affect the results of the blood work in any way? I can only think that any test you can have now, before your other appointments, will indee...

Re: New symptom out of the blue

I heard back from my doctor's office this morning. She's willing to order the blood work without seeing me first because one of my symptoms is tingling. I initially only asked for B12 but she decided on her own to do both B12 and D. I also had to schedule a "physical" for sometime within ...

Re: New symptom out of the blue

Thank you both for replying. I'm waiting for a call back from my gp's office to see if they can send the blood work request in without seeing me. I rarely drive these days because of the side effects of the gabapentin. My husband's shifts at his job make it difficult to have him take me anywhere on...

Re: New symptom out of the blue

I'm not on supplements of any kind and haven't had my vitamin B and D levels checked . The neurosurgeon had blood work done because the cyst/tumor I have is flattening my pituitary. They checked cortisol, free T4, prolactin, TSH ultra sensitive, and somatomedin which I was told are within normal li...

Re: Worried about my partner.

It's hard as we have two separate insurance plans and do to my epilepsy , I'm unable to drive either. In view of your epilepsy and the following articles, I have to ask if you have had your vitamin D level tested? Do you know the actual number for your vitamin D level? Maybe it would be a good idea...

Re: Worried about my partner.

He has had basic testing of vim, sugar, blood count/ levels, and etc We just need to get him more testing . ..................... We are struggling because we do not have $6,000 for the deductible/ copay , we are in a college town, and everything here would be super pricey. I've been researching ch...

Re: should I seek a second opinion?

The only thing that came up was very, very low B12. The neurologist determined that what I had wasn't MS but just low B12. ....He also ran more labs and again found low B12 so I was sent for B12 injections again. ...My neurologist at my last appointment sent me for another B12 test and for a sleep ...

I understand that plasmapheresis also removes calcium (among many other things) from the bloodstream. Sorry, I have no research to support my statement.

Re: Time it Takes for Rituxan to Work on MS

Thanks for attention. I always take a pill vitamin D. I don't have cancer any more. My MS is getting worse after chemitropy. After taking vitamin D supplements for about 6 months, your doctor should order the vitamin D blood test (the 25-hydroxy D test) to learn if you have reached an adequate leve...

Re: Worried about my partner.

I'm worried my partner has a mild form of M/s. My partner is in back pain 24/7. From is lower back all the way up to his neck. He is very fit and not overweight. We eat healthy (vegan) and very healthy contentious people. We have to see a chiro 2-3 times a week. He experiences such bad pain that he...

Re: starting my journey

Surely, a thorough neurologic exam involves more than that, doesn't it? Your original post began by describing your "right foot going numb." Numbness/tingling in the extremities (feet/toes or hand/fingers) is the description of peripheral neuropathy. You may be interested in the Universit...

Welcome to ThisIsMS, Whatcoulditbe. Other than your username (Whatcoulditbe) and the question in your first line, you have not asked for general opinions, but I hope you are open to a few of mine. Your symptoms are common to many conditions, one of which is nutrient deficiency. Magnesium deficiency,...
