Shot-Night Numero Uno

(By the way, I'm going to post this kind of stuff in my journal from now on but leave it public, in case any of you wish to read it.) A nurse came to my house, we filled out a bunch of paperwork, then she showed me how to stick a needle into a mango (usually it’s oranges or apples, she said, but a m...

Very well put.
Terry.
Thank you. Absolutely. But please do me a favor and correct the typo I left! ("expletive," not "explative").

Who do you tell?

I recently worked with a woman on a short-term basis. Intelligent, an elder stateswoman in my field, and the sort of person who has the tendency to talk as if you're having a conversation and then not listen as you respond. At the beginning of our assignment, she was catching a cold and inevitably, ...

I definitely was confusing the two. BTW, I just took my first Avonex injection two hours ago. Feel very tired, but felt very tired before--I'm recovering from a bad bug that's been haunting me for the last week. The needle itself didn't hurt at all, I mean, nothing. But I did feel a strange sensatio...

BTW, if you decide to go on a steroid and need an infusion, ask your doctor to check with your insurance company (assuming you have insurance) or check with them directly to compare the cost of going into the doc's office or a clinic for infusion vs. having a hospice nurse come to your home to admin...

New health-focused search engine

Came across this the other day. It's a completely health-focused search engine that doctors help build and is run by medical information specialists. healthline.com P.S. I already told them in their feedback area that they need an MS channel, since they don't currently have one. You might do the sam...

Yeah, it is funny - I couldn't see the advanatage of leaving it out either -- it didn't make sense. BUT - it works. The doctor (Nationally renown one, by the way  alerted me to it and he has seen very positive results. The bottom line: The drug CAN be stored outside that long - much longer in ...

I suffered from depression for years before getting a diagnosis of MS. Not that this particular diagnosis helped, but once I found out I had MS, I decided to stop trying to fight the depression on my own without medication. I kinda figured MS might mean a whole slew of new medications to deal with, ...

I've seen two neuros. One general neuro and one neuro who specializes in MS and works at the UCSF MS clinic. Both liked Avonex and had had good experiences with their patients on it. Both felt that the research favored Avonex overall, although they agreed it's hard to tell because there's a lot of i...

MS, cosmetic surgery and non-invasive cosmetic procedures

OK, let me start by saying, the idea of cosmetic surgery seems so outlandish now that it's almost embarrassing to post this question, but here goes. Right before my diagnosis, I had been planning on getting something done about some bothersome bags below my eyes. I had researched "non-invasive&...

Wow, that was a really good article. And very timely. I'm feeling the same confusion and concern y'all are discussing. It's actually made worse by the fact that I haven't had much MS occurrence at all--or at least, there's debate about how much I have had (which makes confusion all the more). Had &q...

Going to my neuro this Thursday to get it checked. Not on any medication at the moment but starting Avonex this very Friday, as a matter of fact. Personally, I don't think it's fibromyalgia because I don't have the qualifying number of sore pressure points and I have a friend who has it and our symp...

Is this spasticity?

Having a hard time finding a truly enlightening definition, so here's what I've been experiencing. Painful sensations in thigh. Tend to move around. Sometimes feels like knee is swollen (bad knee to begin with). Weird sensation on sole of foot. At its worst, weird sensation also felt around elbow of...

You had me wondering there for a moment. There is some confusion online when you do searches but tetanus is a bacterial infection, not viral.
