Re: Insulin--Could This Be the Key?

This paper may be worth a read, not specifically MS, but does talk about ancestral diets and the impacts of changes in microbiota composition with modern diets. The primary distinction being the consumption of grains, flour, processed sugars being Acellular carbohydrates where as traditional diets t...

Re: A new concept for MS

Microbiota definately plays a vital role in our health and it is a topic I've been looking at for a while. Just as a bit of an exploration, not specifically related to MS, but parallels can be drawn from this example. Helicobacter Pylori - an upper GI bacteria living in the mucosal lining of the sto...

Re: Paleo Diet discussion

Audio cut out at about 10 min for me, but I heard enough. Nothing that I didn't already know, her headline "Paleo Fantasy" is just that, she rapidly backtracked on the suggestion that we have had rapid evolution to catch up to our modern way of life, there are some indications that some ad...

Re: Warrior diet anyone?

My sugestion is get the diet established first, eat when hungry, try to stick to 2 or 3 meals only, but snack (healthy) if the urge is great, deprivation is not the way to do it. Initially you may find you actually eat more, this is natural, over time you will find your snacking dropping of as your ...

Re: A new concept for MS

Thanks Leonard Interesting presentation, There is a couple of points I question though, the section on Choline and TMAO is a bit dubious, again association/corrolation does not equal causation and there is evidence that suggests the bacteria responsible for the formation of TMAO is prevalent in grai...

Re: Insulin--Could This Be the Key?

I saw that doco a while back, there are multiple ways of doing calorie restriction/Fasting. I adopted a 20/4 protocol a while back, that is a fasting period of 20 hours (including sleep) and a 4 hour eating window in the evening. It is important to include a large variety of foods in this eating win...

Re: low cholesterol

One must always be wary when the words "Association or Corrolation" are used, they do not in any way imply a causal relationship and the results can only ever produce a Hypothesis that needs to be rigorously tested by multiple and repeated trials. Any association like those mentioned above...

Re: Ketogenics Diet

How are you feeling with it? Although I think it is a great direction, be wary of possible thyroid downregulation, so a metabolic slowdown, this happens when individuals have not allowed enough time for their body to switch from sugar burning to fat burning as a primary fuel source. Healthy individu...

Re: Warrior diet anyone?

Haven't specifically looked at the warrier diet, foods allowed etc., but I think it is basically Paleo with the addition of a 20/4 intermittant fasting protocol, that is a fasting period of 20 hours (including sleep) and a 4 hour eating window. This is basically what I do, It is important to include...

Re: Paleo Diet discussion

From the Videos, they didn't give Loren Cordain enough air time and they also skirted around the saturated fat issue which is a hallmark of the paleo diet, at least some of the message is getting out there. I posted a Video link a while back on loren Cordains hypothesis of MS, in that he talks about...

Re: Natural supplement combination appears to help MS

The omega3, omega6, vit-a, alpha-tocopherol group without gamma-tocopherol did not achieve significant results. Only the group with added gamma-tocopherol (but not gamma-tocopherol alone) had any benefits from the study. I don think its related to the polyunsaturated fats but rather the interaction...

Re: Natural supplement combination appears to help MS

My bets are on the Omega 3 PUFA , particularly the DHA being the major factor in this result, the anti oxidants help to protect the PUFA's from oxidation. The Omega 6:Omega 3 ratio is one of the biggest health concerns in the modern diet, particularly as the O6 consumption is so high and mostly oxid...

Re: Alpha lipoic acid and L-Cartinine

Leonardo, Good to hear your positive fatigue results with ALC, my partner also uses it and has had very positive results both in fatigue and reducing brain fog. You've made a very important point that Acetyl Levo Carnitine (ALC) is not the same as Levo Carnitine (LC). ALC is the same structure as th...

Re: Why is the Wahls diet making me much worse, is it possib

I agree with Lyndacarol mostly, Natural fat's have been unjustly maligned, The greatest offender that has been foisted on the population is the "polyunsaturated Omega 6 healthy oils" falacy, we need a small amount of Omega 6, but not out of a bottle, but rather from natural sources like nu...
