Re: Vit D3>125nmol/L min in blood. FIRST SMALL STEP for pwMS

Copper, zinc, magnesium and calcium do not interact with 25(OH)D !?! recall the last few pages of discussion, above. J-Legs, The co-factors cofactor with the bioactive form of vitamin D, calcitriol. That's not to say that they have no role in 25(OH)D levels, only that their molecular and cellular i...

Re: Vit D3>125nmol/L min in blood. FIRST SMALL STEP for pwMS

I think the cost to our health and well-being is getting lost here. If you take vitamin d whilst deficient in co factors, the vitamin d isn't going to do you a bit if good...except maybe give you a false sense of security. In light of the overall expense of the drugs we take to alleviate sx that ma...

Re: Vit D3>125nmol/L min in blood. FIRST SMALL STEP for pwMS

The biggest problem for pwMS is low vitamin D3 not magnesium or any another mineral. The scientific evidence shows this nope and nope. Assessment of serum magnesium, copper, and zinc levels in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients http://ijpbs.mazums.ac.ir/browse.php?a_id=139&sid=1&slc_lang=en M...

Re: Vit D3>125nmol/L min in blood. FIRST SMALL STEP for pwMS

I've been taking 50,000 iu of D3 every 5 days for over a year, no improvements rather a continued steady decline, so I wonder why this isn't working for me Mark! Nigel Nigel, three points: 1) It may in fact be working because it is possible that without the vitamin D, things might have been worse, ...

Re: all things vitamin D

Is there any news on the calcitriol+d3 treatment? I wonder if anyone tried this "in real life". The first news was quite a while ago and there must be at least someone who tried it... Instead of steroids at the onset (or together?) would be very interesting. Or maybe this just did not sho...

I must add that the Hayes protocol is for EAE and yet to be confirmed in PwMS, so there is much more to be learned than there is to be assumed!

Too true! But hopefully we are going to get a trial underway soon.

Re: Vit D3>125nmol/L min in blood. FIRST SMALL STEP for pwMS

The work of some of the best Professors (Hayes and Ebers) have listed calcitriol as the key factor in the issue for PwMS. So I personally don't understand why there is so much confusion about Vit D OTHER THAN lack of knowledge, understanding and acceptance that CALCITRIOL needs to be the focus at t...

MS drugs singled out for adverse reactions

All those neurologists looking out for your health by alerting you to the dangers of treatment for CCSVI have overlooked the adverse event data for the drugs they prescribe day in and day out. Adverse Events, a company that analyzes the FDA data and flags drugs whose adverse event reports indicate t...

Re: Jimmylegs...too much vitamin d = ouch?

Squeaky, You got me on that one. :) It just didn't have the raw or sprouted items I was searching...unless 'almond' means raw almond. Didn't have any sprouted grains or many seeds either. It does mean raw since they have to include the type of cooking in the description otherwise. I specifically as...

Have you seen this site? You can get the entire nutrient breakdown for foods. It's pretty amazing (though the usda has never heard of a raw or sprouted anything!). http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list It even tells you levels of individual tocopherols, amino acids, fatty acids, flavonerd...

Re: Vitamin D testimonials from sufferers from Brasil

Very skeptical that high-dose vitamin D3 has a major impact on MS. If you look at the latest update to the Facebook page, it is now saying high-dose vitamin D3 with betaseron works to reduce MRI lesion counts which is not a good measure of the impact of MS on patients. The recent study by Co...

Re: DrSclafani answers some questions

A friend who is a neuroscientist told me a story of one case he was familiar with where a woman who had severe headache of unknown origin that resulted in 10 contrast enhanced MRIs in one year experienced considerable neurological degeneration to the point that she was diagnosed with ALS, but was th...
