The best thing about this letter to the Editor is the journal that it appears in and he audience it has.

The smartest neurologist will start studying CCSVI more and the tide will turn.

Does anyone know if any young pediatric patients have been treated for CCSVI with PTA (venoplasty)? What are the ages?

Incidentally, her expressive aphasia ( which was 3 months in duration, basically getting less and less frequent over 3 months) could be brought on by : stress, caffiene or smoking ! It correlated with a vasoconstriction sort of trigger. If indeed it was inflammatory in nature that would make sense, ...

This might explain my daughter's course right after her venoplasty. Symptoms pre-angioplasty: fatigue, headache, intermittent difficulties processing thoughts, impaired short term memory, slight blurry vision, recent ( a month prior- lasted 24 hrs) Right sided facial weakness with numbness and loss ...

I believe Devin was treated in May 2010. He had only been diagnosed with MS less than a year at the time of his CCSVI diagnosis and subsequent venoplasty. He is in his early 20's, works full time and is a runner. He is the son of Dr David Hubbard, a neurologist, who had previously been in more of a ...

If my memory serves me, I recall that BNAC included blood relatives of the MS patients in the healthy controls.
They also used Doppler not venogram.

Many other centers have statistics more in the 90% range.

Zamboni excluded relatives.

I definitely question their statistics.

I might add that if this instrument were used twice, before and after ballooning, it would certainly demonstrate the effect of the venoplasty on oxygenation. I suggested something similiar to Dr. Sclafani last year, he did not jump on the idea with great enthusiasm. :) www.thisisms.com/ftopicp-1109...

Facial paralysis (Bell's Palsy) and CCSVI

I am just curious how many pwMS have facial paralysis or facial puffiness ( edema) as part of an MS attack? My daughter had this happen last summer just before her diagnosis. It resolved over a 24 hr period. A month later she was diagnosed and treated for CCSVI. interestingly the facial paralysis wa...

Of course the proteins would be different. The body is being signaled that there is not enough oxygen and glucose so it tries to satisfy need with alternate methods.

In all eucaryotic cells, the mitochondria organelles are responsible for generating energy in the form of ATP for the running of cell function. Part of the generation of ATP is to create an ion gradient across the wall of the mitochondrial organelle. This ion gradient is used to produce ATP from AD...

In the USA we have many Home Oxygen companies, such as Apria Healthcare, Lincare, etc who might fund a study. They have the equipment and the resources.

But we would have to find volunteers that are pre venoplasty. Do you think we could get them?
