Re: Optic Neuritis - now my leg is numb - worried - please h
I'll second the other poster's comment that you really should look beyond Osteopathy for proper diagnosis and treatment of whatever is going on. Given your symptoms and family history of MS, you should get yourself to a neurologist who has specific experience treating MS, and get them to run the ap...

Re: lead in gasoline
i read a few years ago that in the 1930s the percentage of women who got ms was smaller now it's 2/3. it was the 20s when they started putting lead in gasoline . i wondered after listening to this . http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/2013/02/15/violent-crime-and-leaded-gasoline-an-elemental-link/ Most Co...

Re: Optic Neuritis - now my leg is numb - worried - please h
Hi. Sounds pretty similar to my experiences which include 1 bout of acute optic neuritis. I get occasional cramps in left leg, pins and needles in feet and hands, that crawling sensation your describe, and heat induced blurring in my left eye. I was on Interferon for 18 months. Otherwise supplements...

Re: Inosine and neural growth
Thanks for the link. I buy my inosine from bodybuild. com. The brand is Mega Pro. Its about $8 for 60 capsules (500mg) so pretty cheap. I know it works because I had before and after uric acid tests. I was about 4.8 before and 7.4 after. Whether it works is anyones guess but 2.5 years after symptoms...

Re: fatigue meds
Ok. I think it's the same stuff. See http://www.epic4health.com/ubandubareth.html In Australia it's usually just called Coenzyeme Q10. I found after a couple of days I felt brighter and more energetic. A couple of people at work tried smaller doses and thought it was very funny when they started wa...

Re: fatigue meds
Scott - what type of CEQ10 do you use? I use 50mg of Ubiquinol a day. Haven't noticed much difference. Ubiquinol is quite expensive so I have thought about increasing my dosage by adding cheaper ubicarone.

Re: What do you do when you have a flare up?
I'm in a similar position in that after one bout of acute optic neuritis I have never had another acute attack. What I have had since are low level symptoms as follows: Slight blurring of left eye vision and eye dryness Frequently blocked left sinuses Tingling in feet and to a lesser extent hands Oc...

Re: Inosine and neural growth
I keep a stock of Inosine in 500mg capsules and take typically 50mmg every other day. If I feel symptoms flaring up I increase this to 1000mg a day on the basis of enhancing neuron protection.
Anyone else taking Inosine - if so what doses etc?

Re: rebif
I was on Rebif for 18 months after Optic Neuritis. Felt dreadful for 18 months. Now completely off it and feel a million times better and less symptoms. My natural approach is low dose hookworms, a mineral, vitamin and anti oxidant regimen, anti inflammatory diet, sunbathing and lots of green tea. I...

Re: Supplements, diet, and optic neuritis
JL - Id agree it is not a long term solution but I do think there is value in treating a relapse with Inosine (1-2g a day). Once into remission then yes Id stop taking it or switch to a low dose. In the event I ever have another relapse 2 grams a day of inosine is ready and waiting in the Meds cabin...

Re: Supplements, diet, and optic neuritis
You could consider adding Inosine and resveratrol to that list. Inosine is neuroprotective and an anti oxidant. Resveratrol also a good anti oxidant. Interesting observations in this link http://www.townsendletter.com/Dec2012/environmed1212.html I take 500mg of inosine most days and 200mg of resvera...
