Re: Breathing to treat ms
Medical grade masks filter particles to the nanogram level. For the life-long hypochondriac that I am I still can't see any benefit to a mask. Fine, one mask might keep you from catching a virus. So will hand washing. But two masks don't help any more and might make breathing a bit difficult. I know...

Re: Twilight fatigue and aspirin
I didn't know aspirin had caffeine. I have MS and APS. APS causes pulmonary emboli as well as DVT. I don't take nsaids but prescribed medication makes me so tired I'm drinking a lot of coffee morning and afternoon. Headache most mornings responds to Tylenol.

hand tremor
Because of MS and APS I have resting tremor in my left, the dominant hand, I'm trying to turn my right into the dominant hand by practicing my handwriting. Anyone wanna guess which is which in the photo? I practice by brushing my teeth with the non-dominant hand. My dad was in th...

Is this trigeminal neuralgia? If so a course of steroid might be worth a try.

Re: Is saturated fat bad for people diagnosed with PPMS ??
I have McDougal's Starch Diet book in front of me. He recommends something like 80% starch--rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and 20% veggies. He says potatoes are a balanced protein source, not requiring any animal protein.

MS news today
This morning's edition talks about diet. The talking heads are recommending a heart-healthy balanced diet. The only supplement needed is Vitamin D. I was seen by a specialist a few days ago. He said essentially the same thing. The only new item for me was the need for water. I drink a gallon of coff...

Re: Is saturated fat bad for people diagnosed with PPMS ??
Please correct me if I'm wrong but this is how I understand it: Paleo is basically the caveman diet, only eating what existed 100,000 years ago. But before the caveman we were monkeys with slightly larger brains. Small monkeys ate leaves and bugs for protein. Larger monkeys ate leaves and smaller mo...

Re: Is saturated fat bad for people diagnosed with PPMS ??
Saturday I saw a specialist in multiple neurologic conditions like MS, APS and PD. He said diet isn't a serious factor. Just use something balanced like Mediterranean Diet. But he said most people don't stay on diets for anything more than dropping weight for swimsuit season. And eventually go back ...

"The fat inhibits the working of anti-oxidant enzymes in the cells and hence aggravates the oxidative stress condition." I'm a fan of ozone in my veterinary practice. At microgram levels it stimulates endogenous anti-oxidants. At milligram or gram levels it is an oxidant and damages tissues.

Re: Is saturated fat bad for people diagnosed with PPMS ??
That's kinda the direct opposite of my diet. I follow Dr McDougal's Theory. He says animal tissue can produce antibodies that can pass through the BBB and damage nerve tissues. His diet is 80% starch--potatoes, rice, etc and 20% veggies. Absolutely no meat, chicken, fish or dairy. I've been on it ar...

Last July I was diagnosed with MS and APS: Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. Since then I've been on two drugs, monthly Tysabri infusions for the MS and daily Pradaxa for the APS. The MS doctor was never sure about the APS so she referred me to a specialist. I'd had a tremor for months before the ...

Re: Tropospheric ozone
Medical grade ozone is known to up-regulate antioxidants. I don't know whether that might mitigate the NO effect. IV ozone is used as a treatment for MS.
