Re: Dr. Burks at ISNVD

Are we suggesting that Doctors should not profit from medicine? My daughter is finishing Medical school with a quarter million dollars of school debt. I hope she profits!!! Certainly doctors should profit from medicine, but as with everything else financial in the society, things of gotten complete...

Re: Dr. Burks at ISNVD

Actually, Dr Burks has stepped up to the plate!! I spoke with Dr Burks at the very end of the ISNVD conference and we agreed to work together to make his proposal happen. any suggestions? Marc, when we get this document, which NIH will fund, NIH will pay for research. Carol That's fantastic news! N...

Medical device companies were involved in funding ISNVD, weren't they? Platinum Sponsors Bard Peripheral Vascular, Inc. Cook Medical, Inc. Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc. Gold Sponsors General Electric Healthcare Magnetic Resonance Innovations, Inc. Toshiba Amer...

Re: Dr. Burks at ISNVD

Marc, I don't believe most doctors treating CCSVI are making 10k per patient. I have insurance and after the adjustments, my doctors were paid less than half of that. That is not a lot of profit after paying for facilities, equipment, and personnel. I don't know about the medical device companies, ...

Re: Dr. Sclafani at ISNVD

What I meant was that many patients who have angioplasty have soreness in the chest and the neck after angioplasty. You can blind someone during the rpcoedure, but i find it difficult to imagine that someone with soreness in the chest or neck a few days later would not figure that out I had a real ...

Re: Dr. McGuckin at ISNVD

They use six dotted ellipses in China. :-D I didn't read any of this as aspersions on Dr. McGuckin. Clinicially the IRs are finding very high rates of CCSVI in pwMS. Dr. Sclafani has, to my knowledge, only found one person with an MS diagnosis who had CCSVI-free veins (and a handful of patients wit...

Re: Dr. McGuckin at ISNVD

BTW, are you aware that an ellipsis is comprised of only three periods? You've invented your own grammatical device… Technically, if an ellipsis is at the end of a sentence, there should be a period and then an ellipsis, making four dots.... Actually, I believe it's a bit more complicated t...

Re: Dr. McGuckin at ISNVD

Perhaps you are both talking about different aspects of the same issue. We cannot be sure that all people treated by Dr. McGuckin have MS. Personally, after more than 20 years of living with a diagnosis of MS, my neurologist looked at images from my venogram and, when pushed, decided that I had a v...

Re: Dr. McGuckin at ISNVD

I mean no disrespect, but it seems like you are insinuating that Dr. McGuckin is being deceitful and that is where the problem lies. There could be many reasons for his results. The fact is we just don't know how CCSVI is related to other diseases and how often normals may have this condition. So, ...

Re: Dr. McGuckin at ISNVD

Marc - ... not trying to give anyone a headache ..... just offering an observation ... let's give Dr.McGuckin and his MS patients some credit for knowing and understanding their own medical condition . No doubt each and every one of them have been evaluated by a Neurologist or two. And given MS ......

Re: Dr. McGuckin at ISNVD

Marc--Most patients who are sick enough to travel to have venoplasty have had their disease, whatever that may be, for many years. Not a lot of CIS or benign patients looking to self-pay for help across country lines. If CCSVI is also found in the general population, and it becomes worse with time,...

Re: Dr. McGuckin at ISNVD

Hi Marc, It would be interesting to determine how many of these "100" diseases also involve CCSVI. IRs are not treating MS after all. I look forward to your next "distillation" of recent events. Thanks, PN Well, given that many of the diseases that are mistaken for MS are infect...

Re: Dr. Burks at ISNVD

If it is correct that what's slowing CCSVI research more than anything is the lack of neurologist collaboration (as Ms. Kingston reported Dr. Sclafani saying and Dr. Zivadinov agreeing), then we need to understand the neurologist perspective. Objectionable though it may be. To get involved, neurolo...
