Help/advice please

Post by HDragon »

My health insurance was canceled due to a late payment about 2 months ago. I am now experiencing some serious progression/relapse (dx progressive relapsing May 2009)

I now have enrolled in the Federal Medical Insurance Pool but my coverage doesn't start until March 1st. In 6 weeks I'm gone from about a 2.5 to a 6 on the EDSS scale and I'm concerned that if I wait 2 more weeks that more irreversible damage will occur.

I contacted my old doctor but he is unwilling to prescribe steroids (which worked miracles for me almost 2 years ago when I was experiencing a nasty exacerbation)

I was advised by my old doctors office to go to the ER. My concern, other than the cost, is that they won't be knowledgeable enough to provide me with what I need, which is probably a 5 day mega dose of 'roids.

Any advice or ideas on what I can do? I have gotten myself into quite the predicament.

Thanks,

H

I can offer no advice or help. Just wanted to say I'm so sorry that this is happening to you. Healthcare problems suck. MS sucks! No matter, life must go on.

I know of a couple patients who went to the ER for IV roids. Good luck!
