short intro to me I am 27 years old and a firefighter/ emt I was diagnosed about a year ago. I have 2 lesions on my optic nerve and one at the bottom of my CNS, have had blindness, pain in my eye, numbness in legs and arms, burning in my legs and feet, short term memory loss, fatigue, font do well with heat go figure me being a fireman, twitching of arms and legs, and some other things. I take copaxon every day ,Ritalin, Cymbalta. I had my yearly MRI u can still see my lesions with no new ones, but have flair up is this normal to have the flair ups and no new lesions. how long will the old lesion still be scene on the MRI? For anyone taking Ritalin for fatigue what milligram are you taking?

It's unfortunate to hear that someone so young has been diagnosed with MS.

One thing to know is that lesions on the brain do not correlate with MS symptoms. What's important is the location of the lesions. You can also have activity in the grey matter of the brain which they don't do MRI's on normally. As well, you could have new lesions on your spinal column so that would have to have a MRI to see if there is anything happening in that area.

Can't say that I've heard of people taking Ritalin for fatigue. You may want to discuss changing that to something else..it's a fairly potent drug.

As for the old lesions...they could be there for many years but won't likely affect your MS any more at this point.

I was on copaxone for two years. I'm not sure if old lesions go away but I can say that I did have MRI's show no new lesions but the old ones were active. As far as medication for fatigue I was prescribed Provigil and Nuvigil but neither worked for me unfortunately.
