Is moving south to a warmer climate always a bad idea?

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Is moving south to a warmer climate always a bad idea?

Post by pawel96 »

Hi All,

let's say I am managing my ms-or-lyme thing quite good with LDN/supplements/diet.
Let's say I have a good job offer in south of europe. I generally feel worse when it is hot. But I think I could live with AC in the office. It could be lots of stress, new environment etc. But more sun = more vit d, the mediterranean diet is antiinflammatory. Could be less chance of relapses/lesions. Could even be some ms benefit there.
Would you even consider moving? I know it is safe to just stay at home where it is comfortable but I feel I don't want to just stay there until my last days, that's kind of sad.

Or maybe it is better for pwms to move north? Seek colder climate? Any thoughts, experiences?

Hello Pawel,
Here's my 2 cents worth. From what I have experienced & lived with, the stress is my biggest concern. For me, any stress makes everything worse-I can feel my whole body go numb/tingling. But, what job out there isn't stressful? Catch 22...
I now live in the hottest part of the U.S., Arizona, you can live in warmer parts & take advantage of that a/c. Actually, I cannot handle cooler weather at all now, this has just happened over last year or so. I am hyper-sensitive to cold on my feet & avoid cold at all cost.
Best of luck!

Just my experience: moved from Ohio to Florida in 2003. Best thing we ever did for my health! I swear by the vitamin D component of sun exposure as well as general well being from sunshine (mental). I couldn't do it without A/C but with it, no problem!
