Ozone-induced IL-8 expression and transcription factor binding in respiratory epithelial cells
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9124608/
Abstract
Ozone, one of the most reactive oxidant gases to which humans are routinely exposed, induces inflammation in the lower airways. The airway epithelium is one of the first targets that inhaled ozone will encounter, but its role in airway inflammation is not well understood...

Ceramide is implicated in humoral peripheral and intrathecal autoimmune response in MS patients
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36821978/
Conclusion: Patients with MS have shown altered panels of anti-Cer IgGs in the CSF and serum, which might suggest a relevant, though limited role of Cer as a target for autoimmune humoral response. Utility of antibodies against Cer subspecies as potential markers for MS activity and progression deserves further investigations.

Global trends in ozone concentration and attributable mortality for urban, peri-urban, and rural areas between 2000 and 2019: a modelling study
https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanp ... 1/fulltext
...Results
We first compared population-weighted ozone and ozone-attributable mortality in URCAs worldwide between 2000 and 2019. We observed clear increasing trends in population-weighted ozone concentration in all URCAs worldwide (figure 1A; appendix p 5). Compared with all other URCAs, peri-urban areas had the greatest annual increase in population-weighted ozone concentration, which increased at an annual rate of 0·25 ppb (SE 0·03 ppb) from 47 ppb in 2000 to 52 ppb in 2019, and the greatest percent change (11%) in population-weighted ozone from 2000 to 2019 (table 1; appendix p 6). In terms of simple average ozone concentration, only hinterland areas had a decrease over the 20-year period (appendix p 23). The areas with the greatest percent change in simple average ozone concentration compared with all other URCAs from 2000 to 2019 were urban areas (5%) and hinterland areas (–5%).

Rising prevalence of multiple sclerosis worldwide: Insights from the Atlas of MS, third edition
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7720355/
...Findings
Highlights from the epidemiology survey are as follows:
The estimated number of people with MS worldwide has increased to 2.8 million in 2020. When applying the same methodology as in 2013, the estimate is 30% higher than in 2013. The 2020 global prevalence is 35.9 [95% CI: 35.87, 35.95] per 100,000 people.
MS prevalence has increased in every world region since 2013 (Table 1). Only 14% (11/81) of countries with data at both time points reported stable or declining prevalence.
