Simvastatin trial starting

Post by frodo »

I have just read in MS-UK that Simvastatin trial is gonna start ... 10 years late.

As it happened already with Rituxan, Simvastatin is a drug with a expired patent, and though patent expiration is supposed to be something for the public interest, the effect is that nobody has performed a real clinical trial in a lot of years.

Until now. Finally the MS Society, the NIHR and the National MS Society have found the funds. Maybe somebody around here with SPMS could be interested.

I have been doing my own trial for years. Simvastatin is almost the official drug of South Louisiana due to the diet around here...rich in fat.

So I'm just a testimonial. I have been taking (40mg) Simvastatin since 1996. I was dx'd with MS 2/2016 just a week before my 59 th birthday.

So, does Simvastatin slow the disease?
.......No because I got the disease.
.......Yes because I was dx'd at such a late age.

Looks like a more comprehensive test is needed....
