If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Low Nfl's (Nurofilament levels) in Lumbar Puncture results

Post by Luvsadonut »

I had another spinal tap done recently and my nuero pointed out that my Nfl levels are lower than the average Joe. When I was diagnosed 18 years ago I didnt have a ST so this is the first time Ive come across Nfl's. My spinal lesions were still in abundance but Id like to know a little more about these Nfl's. Does anybody know how the Nfl levels play a part in the disease progression? Do they indicate inflammation? Are they a marker of any sort? Done some googling but difficult to decipher..

Thanks

I seem to recall that Nfl in CSF is supposed to be a biomarker for axonal damage.
