Massage Chairs - MUCH more than a vibrating chair

If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Things are looking up in my living room now. I got rid of the couch, which was doing me no good, and taking up a lot of space. With the additional space in my living room, I have ample room to get into the massage chair. I still don't have a really easy time getting into the chair, but it's easy enough and safe enough now! I've been using it everyday for a few days now. I'm noticing what I have noticed before. That is, it relaxes more than just the muscles it massages with the rollers (back and neck). For a few hours or so after getting out of the chair, I notice that my walking is a lot less stiff. I can't quite pinpoint all the muscles that are less stiff, but I do certainly notice that my hips are a lot less stiff.

I mentioned this to a friend and he said what's happening is the massage chair increases blood flow in the muscles it massages, but also increases blood flow in nearby muscles, because blood flow can't increase in one area without the surrounding areas having an increase in blood flow also.

And, as always, the massage chair makes me feel good - relaxed and peaceful.

A couple of tips..

I have raised my chair off the floor a little bit and I can get in and out of it a bit easier. Simple and inexpensive to do (just added a small platform under the chair's base.

I found the massage on my chair too strong for extended use. Your chair may have an intensity adjustment, mine does not for the massage but does for the air bags. I added some 'insulation' under the seat pad to reduce the intensity so I can stay in the chair longer without discomfort.

Glad to hear it is working for you!

Thanks. :-D

The thing that makes my massage chair less than easy to get into is the foot massage unit in front of it.

But, like I said, with the living room now cleared up, it's not that hard to get in and out of the chair safely.
