If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

EFAs (essential fatty acids)

Post by ElliotB »

I get newsletters from a company I order food from and while they are all excellent, this current one discusses a subject of extreme importance when is comes to good health, Essential Fatty Acids, or EFAs. Few disagree about the importance of EFAs because they are well known to be essential for good health. EFAs come from a very limited number of foods, including both animal and plant sources.

Inflammation, the brain, nerves, and immunity are impacted by the EFA balance in the foods you consume. The ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 with foods with balances of 1:1 are associated with far better health than food where the balances that exceed 5:1. Grain fed animals (including poultry) and farm raised seafood can have very high/bad Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratios, as much as 15:1, 20:1 or even higher/worse.
