Differential Diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis

In looking through one of the other MS sites I noticed the link that I've included below which goes into some valuable MS diagnosing information intended for the neurologist but is interesting to us laypeople.

In the past I've noticed people asking what other diseases can be mistaken with MS and how can they be differentiated? This paper does a good job of answering that question.

What I also find interesting is that one of the writers is my friend John Fleming, who has a grant from the NMSS to do research and hopefully a small clinical trial using the helminth parasite T suis against MS.

Great comprehensive list of Neuro. diseases!! After reading through many of them.....kinda' makes one glad MS is the Dx. There certainly are many worse!!

P.S. Also gives some insight as to a proper Dx. Perhaps there are people who may read this who's Neuros. haven't put the pieces together right!

I'm glad you brought that up. I read the writing but was going to get my reading glasses and read through the diseases and their symptoms.

very interesting article.
Family history of sarcoidosis, I had an unconfirmed case of it aged 19, (2 months after glandular fever), and then it disappeared.

Have read a bit about neurosarcoidosis and differential dx with MS - my neuro unhelpfully suggested that biopsy of my brain after death would be the only definitive way to tell which I had

After wondering about it for a long time I just settled into MS, but seeing this again makes me feel like at least asking the new, nicer neuro..............

Yeowch! I don't even like thinking about that. I wouldn't be "dying" to find out (sick humor, sorry) because I think there will be a conclusive test for MS in the next few years......pre-mortem.
