LDN and Avonex

Post by LisaT »

I have gotten my doctor to Rx LDN but she is telling me to take it as well as my Avonex. The reason I wanted LDN in the first place to get rid of the Avonex- period. I was Dx in July, but have probably had this for over twenty years when my toes started tingling for no reason. (yes, they still tingle.) I got the Dx after my orthopedist got an MRI of my cervical spine when my right arm and right leg went numb- and he sent me to a Neuro. Before the DX came in, physical therapy and a lot of yoga got most of my muscle control back, but the Avonex makes me sick as a dog for a day or two a week- and I never had fatigue until starting the Avonex.

Real point- anyone do both avonex and LDN? I know it is counterindicated. Anyone just stop taking avonex and start the LDN instead? Should I get the doc to prescribe a different interferon?

The pills should get here in a few days. My next shot is Saturday morning. All advice is welcome. Thank you so much, Lisa.

Are you taking anything to help with the Avonex side effects? Many people have found ibuprofen to work well. Try 400 mg at the time of your shot and then another 400 mg about 5 - 6 hours later.

I take nabumetone, which is an Nsaid, because I have more bulging discs than skinny ones. Chronic insomnia means there is no way I'll take anything that is supposed to perk me up. Me on speed- scary, scary thought. Only when on my Harley. Prior to the Avonex, I was the picture child for hyperactivity- but in a good way.
