20 min. phone consult at reasonable rate, for those who can't get prescription from their regular Dr.
I have an appointment for a phone consult next Wednesday. I understand the obvious, who what where when of dx, but any tips on what other info I might need in order to keep the call as short (and successful)as possible?

Thank you for this lead Sammy Jo and thank you this is ms for this forum.

peace.

Hi cj - phone consult was easy and took 10 minutes. Dr. Sullivan uses a local pharmacy. He gave me the script and contacted the pharmacy.

I received the LDN 2 days later via UPS. It appears I probably paid a little more than necessary. I paid $115 + shipping for a 2 month supply @ 4.5mg. I may shop it around, but overall I am very happy with Sullivan's help on this.

Started the LDN on 6.4.4 -- don't believe it's hurting anything to take it, but I can't swear it's helping that much either. I think I'm feeling a little more energy in the am, but only seems to last a few hours.

Good luck cj, I absolutely believe this is worth trying!

peace.

I had a phone consult with Dr. Patrick Scott in LaCrosse, WI this week. He is very friendly. I did have to send my medical records to him contrary to what I read elsewhere.

At first, he asked about my symptoms. He made recommendations for each one I listed. The recommendations were all non-prescriptive supplements. He then started talking about LDN and how it is to be used. He answered my questions thoroughly and did not make feel like I was bothering him with my questions. The script was faxed to the Prescription Center and then I called them with payment and delivery information. The person at the Prescription Center was also very friendly.

skeptical???

*****************Has anyone had anything bad to say about LDN? I am taking avonex and my DR refuses to give me Rx for LDN. I found a Dr that will charge $500 for a phone consultation and then might give me a Rx. Not sure what to think. $500 is pretty steep, but does it really work?

I have heard you can not take LDN with the interferons. I am not sure why. Maybe someone else who knows more can respond.

LDN and Interferons

Post by cleo »

I know this doesn't answer your question directly, but have you considered changing to Copaxone if the interferon drugs are not compatible with LDN? I have been on Copaxone since 4/98. My neurologist is head of the Maxine Messinger Multiple Sclerosis Clinic in Houston, Texas. He had no hesitation prescribing LDN. He feels it is a complimentary drug to the Copaxone.

Since the interferon drugs do eventually build up neutralizing antibodies and are not effective and Copaxone does not, you might look into changing your drug therapy to Copaxone and seeing if your neuro would then prescribe LDN.

Good luck.

Hi KP...oh boy....don't think that I would shell out $500.00 on just a possibility of getting the LDN prescription. I say, look around. You would probably be surprised at the number of doctors that are not afraid of prescribing Naltrexone. Once they see how little the dose is they should not be afraid. Where are you located, perhaps someone knows of a doc in your area. I always advise that if you are that serious about trying it, to approach your GP or any other type of doc then a neuro. They are the ones that are so closely tied to the CRABS after all. I found my doc by clicking on the innovative docs listing at the www.lef.org site. You might also try calling one of the listed compounders on the www.ldninfo.org site. I use Skip's Pharmacy in Florida. I bet he'd be able to give you the name of a doc in your area that is open to prescribing it. Skip's number is (800) 553-7429. Good luck to you. I've been taking it for over 2 1/2 years now and I hope to never be without it. Well that is until there is a cure and I might just take it after. JoyceF
