Protein detected in Urine test

Post by ssmme »

I went in for the monthly blood draw and urine sample deposit and got a call that I have to go back to get my urine checked again. They detected protein in it and want to retest to see if it's still there. Has any other campather had this happen? Anybody know what it might mean in regard to campath? I didn't think it's a symptom listed for ITP.

Hi Marcia,
The Mayo Clinic has several articles on protein detected during urinalysis. Here's just one of the articles which lists some common reasons for temporarily elevated levels.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/protei ... ECTION=all
Conditions that can cause a temporary rise in the levels of protein in urine include:
  • Cold exposure
  • Emotional stress
  • Fever
  • Heat exposure
  • Strenuous exercise
They also list several diseases which could contribute to chronically high protein levels.
