Infusion duration

Post by pballer76 »

I have a simple question for anyone that has been on Lemtrada. How long does each individual
infusion take? Is it about an hour or all day?

I just stopped Tysabri after 73 infusions (JCV+). I am waiting for my Tecfidera script to get here.

I like to stay current with what new treatments are coming.
Nothing looks more promising than Lematrada to me. 5 infusions then a year later 3 more.
If I understand the trial results 80% didnt need to be treated again?
My neuro has already talked about this and I am defininatly interested.

The infusion takes a few hours. First you have an IV steroid infusion for about an hour to help prevent side effects, then I think it's about 4-5 hours, although they put it in in about 3 hours by the time you get to day 4-5. You also might want to take anti sickness and headache tablets too. My son had his first infusion in the UK 2 and a half years ago. Since then, no relapses (touch wood). Prof G on the ms research blogspot believes in early aggressive treatment. I wish it was available as an induction therapy
