Estriol

Post by stazmatic »

If a pregnant MS woman has a vacation from MS during her pregnancy then why are not all MS women patients on estriol? Anyone on here take it? I am trying to find some literature that shows the effectiveness of this drug for MSers. I would also like other people's opinions of this drug for MS.

Hi Stazmatic

I am on estriol 8mg/progesterone 500mg (+Copaxone, diet, exercise, supplements). The progesterone dose was recommended after saliva hormone testing found I had none of that. Personally I wouldn't be without either the estriol or progesterone, primarily because of their neuroprotective properties.

Clinical trial data on estriol is limited to the initial Phase I trial which was very small. Here's a link to an open access article on: Estrogen and Testosterone Therapies in Multiple Sclerosis that includes some info on estriol.

There's also an estriol thread with some info on hormones; and, a thread with info on progesterone

Feel free to pm me if you'd like.

All the best to you

Sharon
