Loving Kids' Curiosity!

This isn't so much humorous as sweet, but one of the positive experiences I've had is with children. They want to know why I am in a wheelchair; they try it out and I show them how to propel themselves, or I let them ride on my lap, or let them push me. They want to know how I use my walker, they admire the designs on my cane, they ask if it hurts.

At the store, kids in strollers look at me with wide eyes, like, "why is an adult in a stroller?!" I smile and wave at them and they sometimes smile back!

I ask kids to help me by getting me things, and they are so eager to help, and love the responsibility of doing something I'm not able to do. I want them to see that disabled people aren't scary and neither is their equipment, and to learn how to offer help.
