Just Diagnosed

Post by Boudica »

Hello,

I was just diagnosed today and now that it's official, I thought I would introduce myself. It's been a long road to get a diagnosis. Several normal neurologists and one MS specialist. My MS specialist is awesome and amazing...there are just not enough good things to say about him.

Anyway, I started having weird symptoms in 1999. Of course, I put them off because who wants to worry about random things when you are 20 years old? I mean, you should not have many issues at that age, right? Things progressed and a lot of other issues popped up. Finally, in 2011, I thought to myself, nope, this isn't right and started a 10-year quest to get an answer.

I am relieved because I have been told some doozies as far as what was wrong with me, mostly I was told that I had anxiety, depression, or was stressed or had conversion disorder. Yes, I was anxious about my health issues and depressed when no one seemed to know what was going on when objective findings were there.

Now to go looking into Ocrevus...Hope everyone here is well!

You may also want to look into Kesimpta which, like Ocrevus, is a B cell depleting anti-CD20 antibody. One difference is that it’s self injectable making it more convenient than Ocrevus which requires infusions.

I didn't know that. My doctor was just all about Ocrevus. After looking into it I see a lot of potential side effects. I already have asthma and have had more than a dozen bouts of URIs/pneumonias which Ocrevus can increase.

Have you ever had a pneumonia vaccine? I can’t comment about its efficacy, but it might help.

Welcome to the group. I have been on Ocrevus for a couple of years and have been doing well on it. Good luck!
