Diagnosed Today
Well, it's official. My doctor sent me home with info packets on the different treatment options (Copaxone, Rebif, Avonex, and something else) and I was feeling a little overwhelmed so I started searching and stumbled on this site. I saw the forums for all of the different regimens and started breathing again. This site is great! So now I'm a new user. I'm 24, and living in Louisiana (Geaux Cajuns). I work as a district engineer for an oil service company and am currently in school part time working on a second bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (my first was in mathematics). My mother was diagnosed with Relapse-Remitting MS five years ago and I just found out that her paternal uncle also has it. It looks like it runs in our family. I'll be on the message boards a lot because I could really use some advice on treatments and management.
Dear Becky,
First of all, I wish you much strength in dealing with all this "excitement"-- it's a heavy burden to bear, but you have a strong community of supporters available to you here.
Secondly, I want to welcome you to our site on behalf of the This is MS team and the community. You have hit the proverbial nail on the head-- this site is about sharing detailed knowledge about MS and potential treatments, as knowledge breeds empowerment, and empowerment breeds hope.
It seems you have a wonderful background and we will look forward to your participation on the site.
