getting started

i would like to start with a more involved nutritional regimen. currently, i do a gluten and dairy free diet with no supplementation. i would like to start supplementing but it seems like whatever the supplement is, there is information somewhere pointing to its benefit for MS. i am cautious about taking too many supplements because i understand the danger of using a concentrated source in terms of impurities and would also like to derive most of the necessary nutrients from a great diet instead. i am not opposed to supplementation, but would prefer to zero in on a few key supplements tailored for my needs as opposed to having a whole medicine cabinet full of supplements to take each day. i tend to get overwhelmed with too many choices and would prefer to keep things as simple and scientifically based as possible.

my question is: i see lots of information about specific dietary labs and before i get started on any sort of regimen, i would really prefer to get my levels checked as a baseline. what type of doctor should i be looking for to get this done? it seems like a GP might be able to run these labs, but that is only part of the equation. i feel like i need guidance to build a proper supplementation and nutritional plan for myself. should i see a naturopath? an integrative medicine doctor? an osteopath? is there a directory somewhere that i can look for a doc in my area (SF/ Bay area, ca)?

thanks!

use this. http://www.thisisms.com/forum/regimens- ... tml#p15460

you should be all right to take the info to a GP. that's what i do.
BUT, if i lived in the states i would just sort the testing out myself via life extension, what a great resource! we don't have that kind of option in canada. http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements ... -Tests.htm

i haven't had good experience with my naturopath or with reports from others' experiences with naturopaths.

i will hook you up with a supporting research lit review that i compiled for a patient in vegas - she took it to her ms specialist and then reported back that he was going to apply the info to everyone in his practice.
