Will try curcumin + piperine

Post by zen2010 »

Hello There,

Can experienced people regarding nutriments (Jimmy Legs, NHE, Elliot, others?) help here?
Thks

I will try the combo curcumin+piperine as it should help to repair spinal cord & axon injuries...

However, I am already taking a lot of supplements, so I'm afraid of interactions between these products.

Here is the list of my supplements (per day) :
-Magnesium: 300mg
-Vit B6: 2mg
-vit D: 4000UI
-Omega3: 525mg
-Vit B12 (methylcobalamin): 1000µg
-Biotin: 300mg
-Vit B complex (B1-15mg, B2-15mg, B3-50mg, B9-0.4mg)
-Vit C: 500 mg
-Calcium: 100mg
-Zinc : 10 mg

=>Is there any issue if I also take curcumin+piperin?
=>If no, what should be the right amount per day?

THANKS

I am taking all the supplement you list (and many more) but typically in much higher doses. I have been taking curcumin (pharmaceutical grade bulk powder) for years with no issues. If you are not having issues with the other supplements you take, you should not with this one. Good luck!

(If you have concerns or have had issues with other supplements introduce it to your diet slowly in lower than recommended dosages over a period of a couple of weeks, and then build up to the full dose or whatever amount you want to take.)

Thanks for the feedback.

I checked many different BCM 95 Curcumin products, but none of them contain piperine.

My understanding is that piperine allows good absorbtion of the curcumin.

So, should I go for BCM 95 or Curcumin+Piperine?

Never mind

I got the explanation: there is no need for piperine if you use BCM95.

I just ordered BCM95, 500mg of curcumin per cap.

Hope it will help

Cheers

Piperine inhibits several of the enzymes in the cytochrome P450 family. This action can adversely affect the metabolism of many drugs potentially leading to negative side effects from overdose due to reduced metabolism and clearance.

Piperine can also interfere with vitamin D3 uptake.

In addition to the BCM95 curcumin, one can also avoid potential problems with piperine by using phytosome curcumin instead.

BCM95 and phytosome curcumin were discussed in the following topic.

Thks NHE,

The BCM 95 I ordered doesn't contain Piperine.

So, it should be ok regarding Vit D3 uptake.

sry i don't use that kind of supplement. nutrient dense foods first (including curry) and essential nutrients (including omega 3 fatty acids) topped up via high quality single or multi products.

My current curcumin supplement is Longvida curcumin from Now Foods.

Now Curcubrain

The dosage is 400 mg/capsule of solid lipid curcumin particles (SLCP). This contains 20% curcuminoids. That's 80 mg. The label indicates that it's absorbed 65x better than plain curcumin. That makes each capsule the equivalent of 5.20 g of plain curcumin.
