Zinc and Albumin

not sure i'm on board with 'low albumin causes low zinc' idea...

Zinc Burden Evokes Copper Deficiency in the Hypoalbuminemic Hemodialysis Patients (2020)
"... Since albumin binds to zinc as a carrier, low zinc levels could be attributed to lower level of serum albumin..."

The effect of severe zinc deficiency on serum levels of albumin, transferrin, and prealbumin in man (1981)
https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article-a ... 55/4693392
"...Concentrations of all three serum proteins were significantly depressed in zinc-deficient patients compared to healthy controls, and levels of all three proteins improved or corrected with a short period of zinc supplementation as the sole form of therapeutic intervention. Prealbumin levels dropped and corrected most rapidly, probably due in part to its short half-life of 2 days. This study demonstrates that zinc plays an important role in protein metabolism in man and is necessary for the maintenance of normal levels of certain transport proteins...

Serum zinc

Compared to the zinc levels of the controls (93 ± 6 μg/dl), the patients with acrodermatitis had a significantly depressed mean serum zinc concentration of 21.6 ± 2.4 μg/dl, (p < 0.001). This level increased to 63 ± 8 μg/dl after zinc therapy (Table 2).
Serum albumin
Zinc-deficient patients had significantly depressed albumin concentrations of 3.23 ± 0.27 g/dl before zinc supplementation (p < 0.001). This mean increased to 3.95 ± 0.71 g/dl after zinc supplementation and was not statistically different from the control group (4.02 ± 0.34 g/dl) (Table 2)."
