Autoject failure

just thought I would give copaxone and autoject users a heads up.

Saturday night I did all the prep for a shot into my right hip. I placed the autoject and pressed the button and all the sounds I am used to hearing were not present, so I took a look. The entire syringe was half-way out of the autoject and the meds were not being injected. When I took everything apart, the two little glass lips had broken off.

I called shared solutions today, and was told it was autoject failure. They are getting me a new one. I happen to have a new autoject here, and will use it starting tonight. I was grateful I have done well over 1,000 of these injections, otherwise I think I would have totally freaked.

Glad to hear that you have had over 1000 injections with the one auto inject. I have 2, both faulty.the first one failed after 1 month, the second just after one week. Was entering skin on an angel, and it was bending the tip of the syringe into a hook shape that would tear my skin out. Anyhoo, shared solutions said they will post me out a third but i have refused - I am scarred. Now manually injecting is the way to go - it never fails me and i find i have less pain and smaller welts.

It was actually my second autoject, the first one's failure was much less dramatic. It just didn't inject all the meds.

After three years of self injecting (or making my husband) avonex intramuscularly and hating it every time, I was thrilled for the autoject.

And especially on the days where my fine motor control isn't great it is very helpful. To each their own, I guess.

What happened to the original poster happened to me today.

There's a silicone collar at the bottom end of the autojector that came out when I took the syring out last time, so I tried to put it back, but the wrong way.

I don't know the right way to put it back together, and since it's so expensive I'm not going trial and error with it!

How does this little collar fit into the autoject?

I had problems with the autoject 5 years ago, slow injection, broken lip on the syringe. They sent me a new autoject and it has worked flawlessly since then. It is a good thing for me because I have really bad focal tremor. So there is know is no way I could do the manual injection. I have thought that me trying to inject manually would be great for a Copaxone training video. Probably closer to reallity than the actress they show gracefully and cheerfully demonstrating what a happy time she is having giving herself injections!
