Copaxone and Eye Infections

Post by hoziemary »

I have been on Copaxone for almost a year and I have had 5 eye infections in the meantime. I was just toughing them out but, for the fourth one of the year in October, I went to an opthamologist. He said it was an infection of the gland that produces the oily substance for your eye (lower lid). He gave me antibiotic drops and after the first dose, I felt better. I just got another infection last week and starting using my leftover drops and it never got bad, just a dull ache behind my eye. So, I'm pretty positive that his diagnosis was correct and that it was an eye infection. I also threw away all my make up, washed sheets and towels in hot water, etc. each time to get rid of the germ.

I called Shared Solutions and they reminded me that 3% of people in the Copaxone study reported "eye disorders," only 1% on placebo. My doctor told me that he doesn't think it's Copaxone related. For me, it is the only different thing I am taking this year and my only explanation. Just wanted to see if anyone else had a similar experience.

I have been on Cop for 13 months and I was close to have a "barleycorn" just now. For the first time while on Cop but for the fifth time since I have been diagnosed with MS.
I used 4 drops only (2x2) - the treatment is based on corticosteroids and anthibiotics - and it was over within two days.
