Post Op instructions after Liberation Treatment

Hi all,

I finally have a date for the Liberation treatment (I am going to Dr. Arata in L.A.).
I am still quite mobile and am hoping to also have this trip double as a bit of vacation since it is taking the place of one

.

My question to those of you who have had the procedure are twofold.

1) Did your Dr give you any post op instructions as far as how mobile one should be etc?

2) Did you feel well enough to want to go out and do things in the days after the procedure?

I am always trying to get out fishing as much as possible and to go to the coast and not go fishing if it is possible just seems criminal

. It will probably not be possible before the operation so thus the questions.

You will likely feel very well after the procedure (of course, there are always variables, but...). My own mobility was starting to get dodgy (crushing fatigue, balance problems, and developing spasticity), but two days after the procedure I "did" Auschwitz-Birkenau with zero effort. It was 32 Celsius, and after 6 hours of walking, stairs, hours in the open sunlight and heat, I ran 100 metres without effort, and could easily have run a kilometre or more.

Take yer pole, and plan on some fishing, I'd say. Good luck!

I was mostly just sleepy the next day or so, but I was in the hospital and so got a heavier sedative. My post-op instructions were: no lifting over 10 lbs, no bending over (my neck throbbed if I did), no driving for 3 days.

I think fishing is probably fine if someone drives you, unless you're pursuing the big fish you have to wrestle with. Climbing in and out of a boat might be tricky.

You should feel just fine after the procedure. The Dr. gave me no limitations other than take it some what easy the rest of the day and then do what you want.

My husband and I were treated in Alexandria, Egypt in July. We headed to Cairo 3 days later to see some pyramids. Dr. Tariq said not to overdo it. "Heat is your enemy". It was over 40 degrees celcius. My husband did not fare well with the heat at all!

I suggest that you not push yourself right after the procedure.
