Let me know if something similar has been discussed elsewhere ...

Assuming autoimmune origin to MS, how is remission phase explained.
The trigger factor for MS (myelin) is still there so the disease should not go into remission.

Maybe I am oversimplifying but would like to know ...

I always understood that the inflammation is constant. It doesn't stop. It is when certain triggers speed up (for better lack of a word) the inflammation such as a virus or the flu etc.
