Cece, I'm surprised you are having another procedure so soon considering Dr. Sclafani did not feel the need to use IVUS in your azygous the first time, given its good appearance. Would something now somehow deem it medically indicated? Your insurance took so long the first time to approve, are they covering this, or is it being done pro bono?

Aren't you concerned about the increased risk of cancers in your chest region due to another healthy dose of radiation? We've seen the study showing the increased cancer risk when cardiac imaging procedures using radiation are done.

And what about blood thinners again and their risks?

Are the potential risks worth it when your f/u doppler gave no indication of an azygous problem and Dr. Sclafani thought it looked good enough not to warrant any additional investigation only scarce months ago. Wouldn't waiting a bit seem more prudent?

I realize this is your decision, and I'm sure you've thought it out. I'm only concerned that your hopes might have been too high and now you might be chasing the rainbow that we've seen others do, unsuccessfully. Sooner is not always better, not when we're not talking about something that is of immediately concern. I say all of this with respect and sincere concern, and I wish you the best of results.

Cece, I'm sending good thoughts and plenty of prayers your way. You made the right decision IMO kiddo. Go for it. You will always question the fact that IVUS did not look at your Azygous, it's your way. We know you well my dear. :D

Your 1st and 2nd procedure DVD's can be presented at the symposium for the doctors on the 16th and the 17th. You have a large Azygous so no problem entering there, mine was very tiny and blocked. It's best to know you had the best care and all areas have been viewed.

Was your kidneys, illiac and lumber viewed too?

I pray you will have a great procedure, and all is well, or treated.
take care,
CD
