Re: Pregnancy after CCSVI stenting
My daughter has two jugular stents, placed 1 1/2 years ago in Poland. She recently had her 1st baby: natural childbirth; no drugs; uneventful pregnancy; very healthy, alert, strong baby boy 8lb. 15 oz.; went home the next morning.
We convinced the hospital to treat her as a low risk birth. This took some doing because they thought she had the stents because they thought she had had a stroke when on vacation in Poland and had emergency surgery. Of course, that did not happen....they just made it up to explain away the stents since they were unfamiliar with CCSVI (Kaiser). They had done an ultrasound to check the stents prior to her pregnancy, but didn't bother to look at their own records. The cardiologist had also checked her out and given her a clean bill of health, prior to her pregnancy, but again did not look at their own records. I had to do some fast talking to get them to understand what she had actually had done in Poland. She finally ended up with a particularly wonderful doctor who understood what had been done in Poland, as best he could without being familiar with CCSVI. He facilitated the natural birth.
She had a 16 hour labor and pushed for an hour. What a miraculous event to behold! Our 7th grandchild is being totally breastfed and continues to thrive. He picked his head up the night he was born. My daughter had less difficulty breastfeeding than two of my other daughters. Her pregnancy was basically no different than theirs' had been, except working full time, she had very tired days and fine days. Since the birth, she has not been more tired than most new moms.
