i had venoplasty in march of this year and have had 2 of my bottom teeth near the front shift dramatically to the front of gums and down. in fact there are spaces where they once were.

i emailed the school of dentistry at mcgill university and was told they've heard of it. has anyone else noticed this ?

Did Mcgill dentistry say anything else besides they have heard of it? As in heard what exactly?

this is the answer i got from the dean:

"It is very difficult to comment on health problems without seeing the patient and I am no longer a practicing dentist, so I suggest you consult with your dentist. Having said that, from your brief description, yes I have heard of this happening and again suggest that you need to see your dentist for diagnosis and treamtment.

I haven't heard of this. I'm looking to see what vein drains the gums of the mouth. So far all I've found is that the tongue is drained by the lingual veins that drain into the IJV. One of the more immediate improvements I had was that food tasted better. I was surprised by this because I haven't heard it mentioned as a common post-treatment phenomenon, but it's been a lasting one. Fruit is especially delicious. I also remember the first time I called a dessert too sweet! That was about two months post-procedure. That is new.

Anyway, if the veins that drain the gums were obstructed, and are now cleared, that might affect the health of the gums, although I would think in a positive way? It's the gums that would be responsible for teeth shifting, I think? I think the dean is saying that teeth shifting is something that he has dealt with before, not that he had a clear explanation connecting the CCSVI procedure to the teeth shifting.

None of my teeth moved after de-stenosis. However black rings under my eyes are now more pronounced than before my procedures. I expect there will be many minor changes noted when the data is collected from say 10,000 procedures. It is mis-leading to explain these observations at this stage.

erin, have you restenosed or clotted? If LR experienced it after clotting, maybe it is a result of worse jugular flow, not better.

Yes I saw a video where Dr.Bill Code mentioned that the problem he had been having with his gums improved after his venoplasty procedure. Go figure!!! Maybe pwMS have other health problems that are in fact tied into blocked veins. I think there is still much to be studied on this topic.

right after my procedure i had terrible pain on the left side of my head for 3 or 4 months particularly my neck and jaw. i wonder if my shifting teeth were causing this . i have had no pain since . as for clotting i guess i'll never know unless i get better and can travel . although i did have a doppler ultrasound at a local hospital and was told everything was ok. but i don't feel they knew anything about this .

The local hospital doppler is sufficient to look for clotting, so I would trust it for that. Clotting is really easy to spot.

I would disagree with you Cece. Unless something has changed in the last 2 years. They did an ultrasound on me and the SUSPECTED I had a clot but it was only when they did the venogram that it was confirmed. Right now my veins are obstructed and they suspect scarring but again they are not 100% sure. I do not think it is that back or white unfortunately.

okay , thanks ! i guess they saw my stents then? maybe one day i can go back to albany for a doppler .
