I just heard him (Brad Wall) on the radio. He mentioned 130 people in the trial total so the balance of the participants are probably coming from the US or elsewhere? I like the increase in number :-)

Dr. Mehta's study has an endpoint listed of October 2012. I wonder if that's on schedule?
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01089686
He presented data from patients four-months post-procedure at ISNVD last year, with QOL improvements.

Dr. Siskin's study has a primary completion date of August 2012 and an estimated completion date of August 2013, but they're still recruiting and we know that the Saskatchewan patients are at the earliest receiving treatment in March, for a trial that will run two years, so that would be March 2014.

Both studies are in Albany.

These are really not studies - they are just a vehicle for Mehta and company to make $. A realy study does not charge 6k+ to participants. Very clever disguise, I must admit.

As for Saskatchewan's decision - this is the stupidest thing that a Canadian province can do! It sends a message that we Canucks SUCK at doing things in-house, and paves a way for other provinces to find loopholes and postpone things. Embarassing!

In the US it seems that the universities are having difficulty in getting these studies going, drug companies aren't going to fund any surgical studies. So how else will they be done and if people are getting and paying for CCSVI why not utilize that data.

As for the Saskatchewan decision - I think this is the best decision based on the fact that our country can't get any type of research group together either federally or provincially. This is a result of little interest by researchers and their proposals not meeting the specifications of the funding. It does mean Canucks suck. Manitoba was supposed to annouce their own trial in December and it is now put off until March or so.

The medical field in Manitoba is still arguing that CCSVI isn't a cause or a cure so there is no reason to study the symptom relief. These arguments are old and tired but the neuro's and vascular people are hanging onto this attitude for dear life. As a Canadian I am embarrased by what is happening here. Our medical researcher should be ashamed.

say that to the 86 people who would not have been treated otherwise.

i agree more should be done to keep this in-house, but until our government agrees I saw line'm up at the US border.

Albany is likely going to give us the best results given their experience ( 2 years by the time trial starts, 4 years by the time it ends).
