Mrs Robob was done in June this year. We go back in two weeks for the check up. She has improved significantly since it was originally done (ballooning) although we are prepared to go through the whole thing again if necessary.

Remember, this is real, this is a real condition and it can be treated.

Best wishes as you head back to Sophia. Please let us know how it goes and let us know exactly what they did to reassess. I'm wondering if they will do Doppler only or Doppler and MRV. If the Doppler shows restenosis then they will probably go straight to veinography. It's just that it is such a long way for you to go for a check-up --- so wondering if they will use all tools available to check. Glad to hear that all looks good at the four month mark.
A local friend just returned -very pleased on all accounts. She and her son spent the second week in a hotel in downtown Sophia, greatly enjoying all of the museums, small shops with great prices, and local restaurants. Despite being in a wheelchair and rugged cobblestones, she got around fine with the help of her son. Kar

Back from check up in Sophia... Had procedure done beginning of June. Come to find out that my right side remained fine but my left side where they did suggest stents ended up closing again.. it was to be suspected and I am fine with the decision not to stent.. right now I'm in really good shape not to go ahead with stenting, (not yet that desperate and waiting to see more results from stenting.. very scared with no help in our country if anything were to go wrong). As for test only recieved doppler and stayed at greenville versus Hospital hotel (as per last time) and preferred staying at Greenville. I feel you can relax alot easier and the staff there are great... Did go downtown sophia and visited several churches which were beautiful.... Had supper at a restuarant on the mountain and it was a beautiful sofia style setting the food was great also...it's a well known place for the people who live in sophia so if you ask for the resturant on the mountain they will know what your talking about.. there is bulgarian singer and musician.. great place to go.

So, my wife has just had her check up and everything is fine.....better than fine, here veins have not only stayed open, but have opened a little further. The staff are really pleased for her and so are we. It was very emotional to finally draw a line under the underlying cause. From leaps to bounds.

Robob, Great news! And it sounds as if her physical symptoms have improved too? I've just had the treatment, and wonder what the timeline was like for her, as she experienced those improvements. Do you feel comfortable writing about that?

Went to Sofia to have treatment all three vains were narrow and after treatment a day or two later I felt Better,
for one whole month. And then it went back to how it was not really worth

£5500 + £600 (meds) for a month of feeling better what to do i really like Sofia and i get it my vain must have closed but if i go back and have it done again thats plus £6000 and what if they close again
i dont print cash!! (though i wish i did)

i certainly understand why people living in Europe are looking for doctors in Bulgaria or in some other european countries but Americans? Is it cheaper or what? i'm asking cause i can't imagine me traveling so far, it is not easy and costly.

By the way, i'm 6 days away from my ccsvi procedure and nothing to report yet. i had it in Albany.

Hi all! It's been almost 9 months since my procedure in Sofia, Bulgaria performed by Dr Petrov. I was liberated on April 30th, 2010.

I've had my bad days in the first few months, but since then I've been fantastic. I'm back living life!
I love it....I feel amazing!!!!
Such a relief after having to suffer with it for 16 years!
I wish everyone the success I have experienced.
My brain is still healing....it's nice to know that it has the capability to heal for 18 months post procedure, maybe even longer who knows?!?
We're the pioneers!!

Hello Pinksaphire and everybody else!
Nice to see a familiar name from last year Great to hear you are still doing well. I had my liberation a few weeks after you, in mid may, and there is no doubt in my mind that it has helped me tremedously.
I am still nor 100%. I still have to pace myself, if I don't I pay with old symptoms flaring up. I rest and I get back to beeing almost well again.
Not sure if I can cope with going back to work again, I will try from next month to work 50%. But even if I am not healed enough to work, I am still healed enough to get myself and my youngones up in the morning, get them fed and off to school. I can potter round the house, do the shopping and be there for them in the afternoon, take them to their activities and all that they need. Beeing a mother of a 3 yearold and a 5 yearold is hard work for the healthiest of people.

I am now in Bulgaria for a check-up. As I emailed prof. Grodsinsky, I just want a scan, to see if my veines are still open, I am not expecting to need a venogram, as I am doing all right. Its just for peace of mind before I start work again next month, as the restenosis prognosis is rather high. I am planning on having a scan on a yearly basis, so if there is any restenosis, I can have my veines done before any more iron is doing any damage.

Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum, however I've spent a couple days reading it and it is a big help. Thanks! I was surprised to find out that in my home town Sofia, is one of the best places for treating ccsvi . Currently I live in the US since 2001, but still I can answer a lot of your questions. For example I saw somebody asking about the taxis from the airport. I think they are pretty safe. I remember when you come out there was this ramp full of cabs operated by OK Taxi or Yes Taxi, they are cheap. It will cost you around 5-6 euros to go to the hospital. They are required by law to post there prices on a sticker on the back window. Try to avoid cabs close to the hotel, usually they are more expensive, because they are trying to catch a tourist who is unfamiliar with the prices.
