If Baclofen works...

Post by Dololo »

...does that indicate the symptoms come from MS, or will Baclofen give relief no matter what causes the spasticity /neuropathy etc? I'm waiting for MRI and that whole jazz, but my GP started me on Baclofen a month to see if it might help with symptoms. And it does! It really seems to help, which is amazing. I'm just curious what this might mean regarding the nature of the symptoms in the first place? I don't know that much about Baclofen and its mechanisms.

Baclofen was FDA approved specifically for MS. However, Baclofen is a muscle relaxer and is used to treat conditions which require a muscle relaxer, not just MS. Using Baclofen and having it help does not indicate the cause is due to MS. There are quite a few different muscle relaxers that can be prescribed and not everyone with MS benefits from Baclofen or uses Baclofen. Some of us use other muscle relaxers.
