After several years saying "MS is an autoimmune disease that ..." now they begin like this:
"Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body"

There is no reference to autoimmunity anymore!!!!

Multiple sclerosis is considered to be an immune-mediated disease in which the body's immune system attacks the central nervous system (CNS). Most MS experts believe it to be an autoimmune disease, although this continues to be the subject of debate in the scientific community. Autoimmunity — the prefix “auto” means “self" — means that the immune system is reacting against normally-occurring antigens (proteins that stimulate an immune response) in the body, as if these antigens were foreign. However, no specific antigen has yet been identified in MS, leading some MS experts to conclude that MS cannot be classified as an autoimmune disease at this time.
Re: National MS society web: The word "autoimmune"dissapears
Well, they are more careful than previously. They say "... is currently classified as an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system ...". Much more careful.jimmylegs wrote:still autoimmune here https://mssociety.ca/about-ms/what-is-ms

i don't personally recall what the language has been over time at https://mssociety.ca/about-ms/what-is-ms , but the wayback machine probably does.

"Taking into account the results of B‐cell‐depleting drugs, the production of autoantibodies as the driving force in MS pathology has become less likely, while particularly the ‘innate’ B‐cell functions can be considered relevant. As yet, vitamin D effects on these B‐cell functions have been poorly investigated, the more so with respect to in vivo effects. Therefore, this area offers many opportunities for further research."
