Rebif Rebidose?

Post by aredmosquito »

My doctor and I decided Rebif is my best option (I hate long needles, don't want to mix my shots, and can't handle possible IPIRs from Copaxone because of asthma). He prescribed me the Rebidose disposable autoinjectors. Has anyone on here tried them? What do you think?!

Hi, I have been on the Rebif auto injector with disposable syringes since October 2012. I haven't been on it very long but I really haven't had a problem with them at all. It stings a little when you take the shot and when the meds disperse but much better than longer needles. I haven't really had horrible side effects either. Just aching in my muscles and being a little tired starting about 3 hours after the injection.
I am new to this forum and MS but I want to share my experiences when I can.
I hope things go well for you

Welcome to ThisIsMS, jenid706. I look forward to hearing about your experiences.
My hypothesis: excess insulin (hyperinsulinemia) plays a major role in MS, as developed in my initial post: http://www.thisisms.com/forum/general-discussion-f1/topic1878.html "Insulin – Could This Be the Key?"

I didn't like the autoinjectors. For me, there is more pain when I use the Rebidose disposable injectors than when I use the other Rebif injection tool: the Rebiject II.

With the Rebiject II you don't have to mix anything. I think the needle goes a little less deep so there is less pain for me than with the Rebidose injectors. The needle isn't long and is the same thinness as the one you use with the Rebidose injector.

To switch injectors, I needed my doctor to actually call in and change the prescription. Seems silly since it's the same medication (only the injector is different), but I'm glad to be back using the Rebiject II.

Wanted to update. I did my 20th shot yesterday. I don't mind the Rebidose injectors too much. The first few times I had to put on headphones while I did it because the click noise made me jump and waste my first shot. I have a lot of body fat, so needle depth with the Rebidose isn't really an issue.
