If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Brain MRI with/without contrast

Post by LR1234 »

Out of interest is there anyone else on here that only has suspicious MS indicative lesions show up when contrast is used?

My Brain MRI is always perceived as "normal" until I get contrast then it shows MS.

I wonder why this happens any ideas?

Thanks for reply Bob x The MRI scan I had last week was on a 1.5 Tesla, maybe more would show up on a T3 or 7 tesla.

I am currently changing neuros so when I get the new neuro I will see if I can have another MRI with enhancement (maybe at the very least on a T3) I will let you know the results!

The contrast agent, often gadolinium, shows areas of active inflammation where the blood brain barrier has been breached by the white blood cells.
