Barrie Vascular Imaging

Post by flipflopper »

My doctor sent the fax for me on April 19th and I have not been contacted yet. I have heard others mention that they heard back from Barrie Vascular Imaging 3 weeks after their doctors sent the fax. I am just wondering if others could tell me how long it took to hear back from them

(I’m sorry if this question has been asked before, I don’t have the time or energy to read everything here)

I was contacted within a week, but that was a month ago in late April. It seems that ever since the W5 program, highlighting Dr MacDonald was shown, they have been inundated with requests. Many from the USA. I was told earlier that they are booking into December as only Angela is qualified and trained (she spent some time with Dr Z in Italy). I understand that they are sending more technicians to Italy for training so that they can clear their backlog. Angela herslf is a doll, she talked throughout the ultrasound about what she was doing and what she was looking for. She has a good pokerface as she doesn't let on what she sees. I can tell by how she talks with such empathy about her work and about Dr MacDonald's commitment to pushing for CCSVI treatment, that this is a very caring and professional facility. It's surprising how big the place actually is. And, out of a score of 5 (that's how many markers she tests for) 2 is the minimum to be diagnosed with CCSVI, I got a 4. So, I guess I win :D

They are top notch and very caring. They are doing this on their own time and $ while trying hard to get govenment backing. It is encouraging to know there are people wanting to help simply because they care and want this option available to those who want it.

I find it ludicrus that I can pay for plastic surgery but I can't get this done even if I find a Dr willing and able to do it and even if I'm willing to pay for it.

How long did it take to get the results from Barrie or did Angela give you
a clue/hint of your results at your testing?

I got no hints, as I wrote; she's a good poker player. You should get results within a week. They fax the results to the referring doctor, so you have to get the results from him/her.

I got a call from my GP's office today informing me of the date of my appointment at Barrie Vascular Imaging. My appointment is at the end of September :D

Good luck, maybe you'll beat my 4  , hopefully,by the time you go, they'll be performing the procedure as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they call you and move the date up as they are training more techs this month.

Damn right. What happened to free markets, and free trade, and freedom?

Do they not exist in the confines of the medical-pharmacological complex?

Are we really owned by the doctors who make the most money? Or those with the most hits on PubMed?

Just went to my GP today to get a referral for Barrie.. and then called the clinic myself to confirm. I was told that they get ~300 faxes a day and it's taking them 8 weeks to get back to your doctor with an appointment date.. and that they're booking into dec/jan now.
