I am about to sign for the procedure to be done in Bulgaria. Many of you have already been through it and I would really appreciate if you could answer to my questions from you experience. It will be really appreciated in order to make up my mind completely.
1- was the medication connected to the treatment included in the price? Which type of medication was it? What was the time scale - short, medium or long term medication?
2-did any of you have a re-stenosis. What was the protocol? Price?
3-did any of you have the stented veins totally close after the procedure: Who fixed the problem? Price?
4- how long did you take the anticoagulants for?
5- Do they have different teams or only one
team? is it always the same person performing the treatment?
7-were the forms for consent written in English?
8-was any relative allowed inside the operating theater and during hospitalization?
thank you so much for your time !!!
best regards and keep improving and smiling!

I had my first procedure done on June 23. Had immediate improvements that disappeared after 1 week. Had second procedure (cost 3500 euros) July 14. The 1 stent had blood clots in it and that vein had stenosesd past the stent. The other 2 veins had restenosesd.
Medication while in the hospital is included in the price. If you have a stent you will be sent home with anticoagualants that you purchase from the hospital's pharmacy. (not sure if you must take them for 1 or 3 months)
There a many doctors performing the procedure.
Forms are in English
Hi Dania as per your remark.. you mentioned that you "had my first procedure done on June 23. Had immediate improvements that disappeared after 1 week. Had second procedure (cost 3500 euros) July 14. The 1 stent had blood clots in it and that vein had stenosesd past the stent. The other 2 veins had restenosesd." What did they do when you had stenosed past the stent.. didn`t think that could happen.. I am going back for my 2nd produre come October... is there anything I should be careful of.. and is there any way of knowing that could happen to me..
Dania i do find it a little strange you had second procedure so soon after i thought the body had to wait at least 6 months before second procedure. Also how did you get checked so quickly was it some kind of emergency.

I contacted the doctors in Bulgaria, told them what that my improvements vanished after 1 week and I was worse than before. They told me to come back and. They said to come now or wait until September. I did not want to wait for September. I went as soon as I could get a flight. I guess you could call having blood clots in the stent an emergency. I have had 2 pulmonary embolisms in the past, which they were aware of. I suspect they did not want to take any chances.

They cut up the clots and ballooned all 3 veins again, but I am worse than before. I know the veins have closed up again. Thinking what my step will be as I am too weak to do the long flight back to Bulgaria.
Dania, did you talk to the dr and have they offered you anything else as your next step.. did they take out your stent at that point... Wishing you good luck and getting better ASAP....!

I am far too weak to make the long flight from Montreal to Bulgaria. They left the stent in and but removed the clots.

Hi Dania, I`m really sad to hear the bad news.. I am also from Montreal, i`m sure you have but did you try to get any doctors here to help you. or are they trying to rub you off like they don`t want to touch you cause you went out of the country for help.. Has your neurologist in Montreal been following you to see if he can get any help for you. Has any doctors (either the one`s in Bulgaria or the one`s in Montreal) suggested to you what they can do to help you... sorry for all the questions.. it`s just that come October I have to make a decision on stenting or not... and what to do if something were to go wrong the kind of help we can get in our own country.. is a big factor on my decision. Do you regret getting this done or do you think they will eventually be able to help you.....
thank you and sending wishes and positive vibes your way so you can get stronger .
So sorry things haven't worked out very well for you. Are you taking blood thinners, anticoagulants? These might help prevent the clotting around the stents. I hope there is a Doc that will arise for your scenario.
Hey Ven,
My husband cut out all bread ( hard to do when you like to eat) and he ate a fair amount of Grapefruit-- a fat burning food and it takes away the desire for other foods, also live on salads they are good for you and you can put lots of healthy things in them!! Hope this is of some help!! Mostly it is hard discipline!!
