If it's on your mind and it has to do with multiple sclerosis in any way, post it here.

Stem Cell Clinical Trial

Post by allison »

Just thought I'd post this site in case anyone is interested. I spoke to a man that had this done in 2004 and he said he is still doing great!

A couple of warnings about this one, it is a crossover study, you get put in the transplant group or Tysabri.
Also, since it is not sponsored by a drug company, your insurance has to agree, my PPO is not interested..
Also, I know someone who has had this done as well. She has been after me for years to get enrolled (not so easy). Then I find out that over the years she has been put on chemo a number of times, as well as the old methylprednisolone in order to get her blood abnormalties straightened out.
She has had platelet counts so low, she gets in time bomb zone. Then a course of steroids, the come back up for a few weeks then go back down.

I had looked at this as the holy grail, and I know none of us is the same, but while her MS has been arrested ( I think, she leaks details slowly), she is still very sick.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle..
