Personally, I think that this is it!
No drug alone can do the job. It will have to be done in combination therapy. Just like chemotherapy. It is always a cocktail of drugs that are needed to stop a very aggressive type of cell damage. Not the same cause but some similarity in the destructive process.

But dont hold your breath Carole the last slide in the presentation says quite a lot
[My emphasis]Statins may only have modest effects over extended periods which would require long-term (>5years) and large-scale trials. These would prove very expensive and therefore not attractive to the pharmaceutical industry. This is especially pertinent where statins have lost, or will soon lose, patent protection.
