Weird eye symptoms? Help?

Hi All,
Most of you know that I'll be speaking at Dr. Sclafani's CCSVI Conference in a couple of weeks. While preparing for the prezo, an idea hit me, and I'd like to see if I may be onto something, without prejudicing you by explaining it first (please don't feel used!). (I don't make any income from my research, so no sales. Promise.)

We all know about optic neuritis. But have you ever had a strange eye symptom that perhaps went away and you never explored it? What are some weird eye or vision symptoms you have had?

Hi Dr. Diana,

I never had on but have had some weird eye symptoms twice -once at age 27 and ince at 34 when I was pregnant and didn't know it. I was diagnosed at 39.

I will be at Dr. S's symposium (I'm his first patient ever and introduced him to CCSVI in Oct 2009) on Friday and might pop in and out over the weekend. Do you want details? To meet, talk first?

I had a a tiny hemorrhage in the macula, confirmed by direct eye exam.

It resolved in about one week by the time I got an eye test -with contrast and all that stuff- which showed that the event didn't leave any scars or marks in my eye.

This was about nine years ago and no new events since.

Emma has apalling periphal vision, her left eye moves with a mind of it's own and is drawn towards moving objects and light.

She frequently suffers from blurred and double vision and is very sensitive to light and changes in brightness.

This was eliminated almost completely post CCSVI procedure alog with a 20% improvement in prescription.

6 months later this has gradually regressed, not quite as far back as pre procedure (the prescription improvement remained) but not far off.

Lets see...

Blurry vision upon waking up that resolves in about an hour
Eye pain, like someone is sticking a needle in my eye
Floaters
Twitchy eyelids (I was always told it's because I'm tired)

My one major bout with ON was that all the color left the world, it looked everything was white. Steroids resolved it.

Not sure if that helps, but there it is.

The funky eye stuff is (hopefully) something that may add to my preso, though, so if you could share that in advance, I'd be most grateful...

Thank you for your help. I'm so sad that she has regressed. It sounds like the docs are on the right track, though.

Crazy question, when she has double vision, do you know if it is side by side, up and down, or a combo of both?

Thank you! When you wake up with blurred vision, is it blurry both far away and up close (or just one or the other)? When you wake up, do you ever have a feeling of fullness or head pressure?

Can I ask you if the eye pain is in both eyes, or just one? Does it feel like it's on the surface (like extreme dryness), or deep down pain? (nothing like trying to "examine" someone's eyes on line. ha).

Dr. D,

My first issue, age 27, was after getting some liquid in my left eye on a summer vaca. I came home seeing a black spot in my field of vision. After going from one dr to another, I saw a retina specialist who saw scar tissue on my retina. It's still there but doesn't interfere.

When I was just a week or two pregnant, age 33, I saw a white cloud over everything thru my left eye. I wore glasses for driving and thought I needed a new script. I couldn't be corrected to 20/20. Eventually the opthamologist thought it was due to hormone changes. It resolved eventually.

My first and only flare up, age 39, was sixth nerve palsy of the left eye. The diagnosis too three days - lyme blood test, next day an mri, then a spinal tap.

8 years later, when I became SP, my symptoms were on my left side.

I'm looking forward to meeting you next month.

Can I ask if you had any 'warnings" that your sixth nerve was "about to go". Could you tell that you were sort of fighting the double vision, or was it just BAM! everything's double?

I woke up w/ a strange soreness in my left hip. I remember telling the other moms at the bus stop, one a nurse, how unusual it was.

I worked at home that day and had a lunch meeting. When I got in the car and drove down the street it felt like I was flying. That was a Wednesday. I drove 75 miles to my office the next day and had to keep my left eye closed. I kept walking into walls at work. Friday, I worked from home, saw the opthamologist who immediately sent me to the neurologist.

What I didn't realize that morning, was that my left shin tingled when I shaved my legs that day. Before I got the diagnosis, my nurse friend/neighbor asked me if I had any numbness or tingling. I had no idea why, but she did!

I will introduce you to Dr. S, but you'll know him right away! He sounds just like his writing. You can't miss me. I'm in a power wheelchair and have blond hair, light eyes and freckles. If you want to exchange cell #s, pm me.

Recently having problem seeing with two eyes - stereo vision? Can see with one eye covered but not with both at same time. Typically it happens in the evening and usually resolves in 1-2 hours. I think "1eye" posted something about this phenom recently.

fyi - optic neuritis (colour/blurred vision) was a presenting symptom in the beginning but I've never had since.

When I wake up with blurred vision, it's blurry both far away and close. It gets worse, however, if I try to focus on something (maybe it's worse though because I notice it more then). I haven't noticed any unusual pressure, although it is exceedingly irritating. I had this happen just yesterday, and I was pretty tired. It is almost always worse in my left eye. I can't give any more information about pressure, except to say that I have pressure headaches quite often, but the correlation between the headaches and blurred vision doesn't 'seem' to be there.

The eye pain is deep in the eye, and it can happen in both eyes, although it's primarily on the left, where I had my bad bout with ON. It's like someone is stabbing the back part of my eye. I usually just power through it, but it hurts!

This is just the kind of thing I'm wondering about.

I had a couple of episodes where I looked down and to the right at my car stereo and it looked as if it was moving away from me. That was repeatable. It looks like we're having some mild eye muscle paresis (sort of a passing and partial paralysis -- the nerve is irritated, then it passes). That's my first guess!
