physical therapy after ccsvi
physical therapy after ccsvi
I'm coming back to my own after my ccsvi in march. Since I've been in a wheelchair for about 5 years my muscles are obviously atrophied. I am doing my exercises daily now and am up to sit/stands--deep knee bends--crunches and more------anyone with knowledge or tips would be most welcome-----and anyone who has made progress in this area and wants to share sure would help me stay the course!
Bonitamae,
This is incerdible, congratulations on the renewed strength and exercises.
Anything you can do now is really going to be great for you, and working with someone is a great idea after having been bound to your wheel chair for five yrs. It seems it is a good thing to be helped and encouraged and guided back! Good for you!
I do yoga, by which I mean I have certain exercises or 'postures' that are helpful, especially where flexibility is concerned, which will eventually lead to strength. There are many beginning yoga dvd's available, there is even one tailor made for those of us with MS ( a little research on internet and you will find something).
The thing I like best about yoga is it is great for circulation and includes breathing exercises too, which can only be good for CCSVI.
Again, it is both strengthening and calming at the same time.
I wish you continued healing and strengthening!! Keep it going!

Physio
I exercise almost every day: biking, weights, core work. My physiotherapists have been very helpful. Just today they showed my wife and me how to do PNF (ask your physiotherapist - they all know it, usually used for stroke patients) to help me with my continuing weak left ankle and foot-drop problems.
