"The new imaging method, described in the September issue of the Optical Society's (OSA) open-access journal Biomedical Optics Express, holds promise as a diagnostic tool for doctors treating nerve damage or degenerative diseases, the researchers write."

Well it sounds like it may one day be able to find the location of our nerve damage. But "one day" may not happen for many years. Even if they find the damage it doesn't mean they can fix it.
