Do not know what to do
It will be 4 years this Jan 1st that I have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. I have never had health insurance and recently my MS is getting worse. I contacted the MS society and they gave me a list of doctors to call and none of them will see me because I do not have health insurance. The MS clinic here in Toledo said they can see me on sliding scale fee but they cannot fit me in until October. I have loss of feeling in face and some parts of my right arm and leg. I also have been numb in other areas. My right eye is totally blurry and I have very bad back pains. I also have been having a lot of confusion and depression. I seem to sleep a lot and really bad tremors in my right arm and leg. I also have been having some memory loss. I do not work or have health insurance and I went to the ER and they gave me a week's worth of steroid pills they didn't work at all. So my question is what should I do? Go back to the ER? Since if I have been diagnosed with MS I have been in and out of the ER and having relapses and it is getting worse. I do not know what to do, I cannot work in this condition and I cannot find a neurologist who wants to see me to get help, and I cannot go get Medicaid and social security until I find a neurologist. Any suggestions or advice would help thank you.

hi there, welcome to the forum. unfortunately i can't help you with the health care system ins and outs that you're facing.
all i can help with is ms nutrition info, myself. do you have any resources available for getting some tests done and buying any supplements that could be needed?

all three are low in your typical ms patient, and these nutrients are linked to diverse and wide ranging health effects including neuropathy, eye trouble, pain, confusion, fatigue, tremors, memory, all the things you're talking about.
there are other nutrients that are low in ms patients too, but if i had to choose three i think it would be those. although depending on your diet i might also suggest b12.

My county offers a low cost clinic that offers financial assistance for people without insurance or those who are underinsured. See if your county offers the same. I'm not real thrilled with the doctors there, but they are good for blood tests and general ailments and should be able to help with prescriptions as well. In addition, most of the MS drug pharmas offer financial assistance for uninsured or underinsured patients based on financial need.
