Chiropractic works for me!

Post by Sparky10 »

:-BD Just had my 6th adjustment. My walking is definitely better!

I'd never seen a chiropractor before but was always intrigued. The initial visit consisted of reflex tests and 6 xrays. Was pleasantly surprised to learn that the reason I'm an inch shorter standing on my right leg (my weak side) is not the hip joints as I feared but the lower spine is skewed. Twelve years of lifting my right leg with the spine, I guess.

Four places get adjusted each visit: my neck, one area in the thorax, and 2 in the lower spine. I can walk without a limp for a few days after treatment, even when really tired!

It is not for everyone - I've heard bad stories. But it works for me! :-D

thats very good to hear Sparky but i would like to hear about these bad cases if yotu dont mind me asking.

usually with the lower spine being skewed, the entire hip will also be skewed pulling up the leg

just wonder have had any head or neck trauma ? like whiplash, falls or anything?
something that maybe personal but have you had mono?

Yes, I had mono in the mid 1970's.

The bad stories I refer to are just things I've read on other forums. Someone had their artery (?) torn from a neck adjustment. Some have reported all-over soreness after chiropractic treatment. (my Chiro said that might happen to me but it didn't) Some people have said chiropractic treatment caused an exacerbation. Just things I've read over the years.

If you're asking if I've had trauma, not that I remember!

This morning I went for a walk down my gravel road and then into a newly mown field looking for blackberries. Aside from my weak right ankle not supporting me on the uneven ground, I did not have the fatigue and weakness I used to experience! Once back on the road I did my best to walk straight. Noticed both arms were swinging normally! I used to unconsciously NOT swing my right arm. Swinging the arms helps me balance.

Adjustment #7 this evening. Earlier today it occurred to me I was swinging both arms when walking. It's been years since that happened normally!

hello Sparky -
Good for you.

This is my first post and figured this is the topic for me to talk about. I have MS and have been seeing a chiropractor for a few years. Since Sept 2010 i have been going 3-5 times a week.

This has changed the MS game for me.
I am an active working mom. Chiropractor, with exercise, supplements and the right attitude i am gaining, not losing.
Healing from the inside out - My CNS is compromised with MS. And the lines of communication between my brain and body get affected. Adjustments help open up the lines of communication.
Dealing with the pain (s) of MS is not going to go away - so i choose to move when i hurt, not curl up in a ball. Chiro helps me with that. I am living a great life. I have incorporated chiro in my life style change - and even though it can be a pain in the "butt" to get there - its worth it.

Welcome to thisisMS, Nomar! Chiropractic does not work for everyone. Good to hear you are getting benefits from it.

Friday was adjustment # 11. Saturday I had a setback. I didn't walk any further than usual but could hardly walk most of the way back. Felt like I'd never started this treatment. And I was like that all weekend.

This morning, the Chiro said that setbacks are normal. Not everything works perfectly all the time, right? Especially when the human body is concerned. Anyway, we'll see how long today's treatment lasts. This is week one of 2 visits a week instead of 3. I bet by Friday I'll be anxious to get adjusted.

Be careful with chiropractic care. I truly believe that chiropractic care is what started my most major exacerbation. I had a chiro treatment done on my head and the lesion on my brain stem got majorly disturbed and I believe that is what threw me into the mother of all MS attacks. I wish that I could go back and NOT that chiro adjustment. I will never have chiro adjustments EVER again now that I have MS.

Sorry that happened to you, stazmatic.

As I said in my opening post, "It is not for everyone - I've heard bad stories. But it works for me!". Wish there was something that worked well for us all.

Was this "standard chiro" or a specific atlas adjustment?

I used to see this chiropractor about 2 times a year when I was in Colorado. He is an 84 year old chiropractor that only wants to make all his patients well. When I saw him at the end of March of 2012, I did not know I had MS, let alone a lesion on my brain stem. He did some adjustment in my mouth because my "bite" was off. Within 3 days of that adjustment, I was having numbness in my face. However, I didn't know it was MS so I saw a ton of doctors including another 2 chiros that were local to where I live plus ended up in the ER. It still took another whole month for me to finally get a diagnosis. I really think all the chiro care is what sent me into such a terrible exacerbation. So far all the numbness has not gone away. I think I have permanent numbness now from that treatment.

Upper Cervical is definitely working for me. Totally effective. I can walk better and heat intolerance is better. I decided to go with it after CCSVI. I also have an MS physical therapist who it awesome. Trying to deal with MS from 3 fronts and it seems to be a working combo.

Emma discovered Jaw misalignment treatment as a result of visits to a Chiropractor.

She was visiting once every two weeks to get her C1 & C2 corrected. Every time it moved back out of alignment.

8 weeks of specialist treatment to realign Emma's Jaw and her C1&C2 are where they are meant to be, permanently.

So ask yourself why you need adjusting and search for the reason that you require those adjustments to start with. I almost guarantee you end up at TMJ issue.
